This series contains ten commissions appointing individuals to various civic positions such as justice of the peace, high sheriff, and deputy surveyor.  They date between 1789 and 1882.”

“This series contains a large volume of clippings from newspapers, magazines, journals, and other printed sources. In the nineteenth century, clippings were often glued into ledgers and account books as exemplified in 19/3 and 19/5 below.  The clippings do not always pertain to New Brunswick, but where they do, we have mentioned to topics in the descriptions.  Some of the items in this series are large volumes of clippings, and some are the complete number of a newspaper.”

1  Clippings kept by Miss Bessie H. White containing poems, stories and articles about public buildings in Saint John and Fredericton (from Saint John papers, 1876-77); Victoria School House, Saint John; Government House, Fredericton; Saint John’s Church (Anglican), Saint John; Trinity Church, (Anglican), Saint John; Fredericton City Hall; York County Court House; Saint John Court House, Carleton; Church of the Good Shepherd, Fairville; Saint Andrew’s Kirk, Saint John; New Parliament Buildings, Fredericton.  The clippings are contained in an account book for a large unidentified general merchandizing firm in Oromocto.  The ledger lists names of customers, sales, payments and balances.
